Safe Boating Awareness Week

May 22 - 28, 2021.

  1. Wear your lifejacket. It won't work if you don't wear it.
  2. Boat/paddle sober. Impaired boating is impaired driving.
  3. Be prepared, you and your boat. Is your boat is properly equipped? Did you check the weather? Do you have enough fuel? Have you filed a trip plan with someone on land?
  4. Take a boating safety course. A PCOC will take you out on the water. A CPS boating will take you home safely.
  5. Be aware of cold water risks. Cold water severely hinders your abilities.
  6. Always follow navigation rules. Be aware, travel at a safe speed, know what to do when crossing, meeting head on and overtaking.
