2009 West Arm Cruise Doug Hay will be leading the 2009 curise. Please contact Doug for more details (705) 752-3670 or by email Due to the overwhelming lack of interest the West Arm Cruise will still go ahead, but on a reduced scale. Saenchiur Flechey is not opening to the public contrary to what they had indicated earlier. Victoria Lodge Restaurant is closed. Samoset Lodge is closed leaving only Shushwap still open. We will depart North Bay marina at approximately 8:00 AM Saturday morning, we will still plan for a 10:00 AM rendezvous at Hay Rock (assume good sea conditions, it’s 22 miles so we can slow down if desired). From there to Shushwap will take another hour. There is some interest from the North Bay marina crowd (non CPS members) so their departure may be as late as 9:00 AM and still meet the scheduled rendezvous. We will pick up anyone that may be staying at Shushwap and continue to Monetville and return. Those desiring to do so, can stop for dinner or return to North Bay in the late afternoon. I did the whole trip to Victoria Lodge (including a shore visit with the owner) on Sunday for something to do, and I cruised at displacement speeds from Iron Island home and the round trip took approximately 8 hours total. Quite doable as a day trip. Unfortunately the West Arm resort / restaurant businesses have not done well and most have closed. They are catering to the small fishing boat business so this does become “remote” cruising for us. Docking particularly is tough. At Victoria Lodge I docked on a 14’ finger. A little challenging!
